Hi there,
welcome to my personal website.
There is not much to see here, except some self-promotional stuff.
After graduating in 2002 with a
"Diplom"
in Biology from
Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf,
I started a PhD in the
Department of Physical Biology
in
Prof. Gerhard Steger's group.
In 2006 I received my PhD degree (summa cum laude).
The thesis titled "RNA-Alignments and RNA-Structure in silico" can
be downloaded
here (German only; an English abstract is available here.)
During both, my studies and the PhD, I worked for several companies as a programmer and sys-admin.
After my PhD I worked for half a year as IT freelancer.
From late 2006 to 2010 I worked as PostDoc in
Professor Des Higgins's group,
in the
Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Sciences,
University College Dublin.
October 2010 I joined
Niranjan Nagarajan's
group at the
Genome Institute of Singapore.
I know this is a bit stupid and citations don't
measure scientific success etc. etc. However, I
can't resist showing off by pointing out that
Microsoft Academic Search
lists me under the most-cited
computational biologists of the last 5 years (mainly due to
the
BRAliBase and Clustal papers (see below))
